In Formula One, the schedule is so grueling that they take a summer break to allow for the teams to get some rest. My summer break is longer and less desired than that.

Helping my elderly dog down the stairs in the middle of the night I missed the last step and paid the price (my dog was fine, I held on to her). Breaking cars or bones is never a fun time, but just like breaking a car this presented a great opportunity to upgrade. Time to put myself in the shop (hospital) and get the new hardware. I added a plate and a bunch of pins to rebuild my foot.

Everything went well with the surgery, and I’m on the path to recovery. Not being able to put any weight on the foot for ~6 weeks is pretty frustrating and hampers a lot of my ability to participate in activities. Recovery is going to impact 2 autocross events, a TSD rally, and I’ll reschedule a track day to later in fall.
