Team RedLine Oil 2025
First off, I’m excited to announce that we continuing our partnership with RedLine Oil. They’ve been fantastic partners for several years. I struggle to decide if they are better people or have a better product… at the end of the day, both are top notch. In the Mini (which is now old enough to drink) we use RedLine motor oil, gear oil, brake fluid, and coolant additive. The Mini runs hard all the time and RedLine’s products have never let me down. Even after extended events and running the oil has never shown any degradation and the car runs as good as ever.
Winter maintenance
The next thing is really getting to work and getting the Mini ready for the season of events. The silver lining of breaking my foot and not being able to walk all summer is that the car really didn’t have any new wear and tear on it. So, the list of work to prep for One Lap of America 2025 is a lot smaller than the first event, and the updates coming out of that event. Here’s the list:
- New 5-point harness. Nothing wrong with the existing, however it was “expired” before it was ever taken out of the package. Will update it and upgrade it to a camlock design.
- New battery. Car sat too long and the battery suffered for it.
- Fix/update/replace wheel arch trim clips.
- OLOA2025 Event tires
- Refresh fluids
- Recharge the AC. We’ll see if this works, I’ve done a number of things to try and get it to blow cold air again (fix fans, resistors, etc.) without luck. Hopefully all that is missing is the recharge. This is purely a comfort item but on the OLOA transits it would be nice.
