We kicked off the first round of the Virtual OLOA in the uGRM (unofficial GRM) brand Mini Coopers. The series uses Assetto Corsa as the sim, and the tracks will roughly follow the OLOA2022 route. We’ve made a few substitutions based on quality and availability of the tracks. If you are interested, you can join the discussion (and the series) here: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/simulation-central/assetto-corsa-on-pc/174453/page1/

Big thanks to Pro, Air, Dean and the rest of the group for helping to sort out and design the Mini Coopers to be as close as we can estimate to my real life car. The base car was basically a reskinned car with a Mini model applied. We’ve done a good amount of work to the suspension, engine, and power curves to get it to be closer to how my real car will handle. Being a sim, it will never be perfect. The tires are often too sticky, and you’ll drive a virtual car much faster than a real car (there’s no punishment for crashing in a sim). That said it is a lot of fun to drive.

The first race was at the Nashville Roval. My race results were… ah.. consistent. I don’t have a ton of time to get practice and get good at the racing aspects, but it is a lot more fun to run laps with other people and get some laughs in with your laps. At the end of the day, my goal is to get some practice as the tracks One Lap of America is going to visit in 2022, racing with friends is the bonus. Here’s some highlights (low lights?):
